Private Lessons
I strongly believe that every student should have access to private lessons, and should take advantage of the best teachers around them whenever possible! I offer in-person lessons in the Chicagoland area (near Downers Grove and Lockport) and online lessons to students nationwide and internationally! I am happy to work with students of all levels, including neurodivergent students or those who just need a little extra help and time to understand concepts.
Students of mine have participated locally in All-State/ILMEA events, performed at IMEC and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinics, graduated from the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative, and attended programming at Merit School of Music and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Students who went on to study music in college have matriculated to Interlochen Arts Academy, DePaul University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Temple University, Ball State University, and Northwestern University. Often, these students are able to attend summer camps/colleges on close-to-full scholarships and, in some cases, have been awarded full scholarships to attend prestigious schools across the country.
Private Lessons for Middle and High School students come with the following expectations:
Enrollment is at least a semester long, but it is typical for students to be enrolled throughout their academic year, plus a handful of lessons through the summer.
Lessons happen weekly and are billed monthly (typically 4 lessons per invoice)
Students must practice every day.
You may have to purchase various equipment and resources/etude books.
For Middle and HS students (priced for the length of a typical 8-period class day) are below. Although each district/school has its own private lesson rate, my rates are typically between $35-$40 for a half-period lesson and $70-$80 for a full-period lesson. Feel free to request more information for your lesson rate when you reach out.
Private LEssons for non-local Middle/High School Students
If you don't live in Chicago, or aren't able to travel to one of my sites for in-person Private Lessons, don't worry! I offer private lessons on Zoom. These come with a few extra requirements listed below, but generally run the same as an in-person lesson with some modifications here and there to ensure that the lesson environment is still effective. Semester/academic year long enrollment is highly suggested. Online lessons are sold in the following packages, billed monthly. These fees reflect the slightly longer lesson time compared to a class period, as well as a nominal fee for electronic services. You may be required to purchase some audio equipment and ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection to get the most out of this option
30-minute: $50 ($200/4 lessons)
45-minute: $75 ($300/4 lesson)
60-minute: $100 ($400/4 lessons)
